Today’s blog post explains how to install Android on VMware ESXi step by step with screenshots. The advantages of using an Android VMware VM include the possibility of creating snapshots and cloning a VM during the development or testing process. Once you install Android on VMware Workstation or ESXi, you will get all features available for Android installed on a smartphone. Fortunately, you can install Android on VMware Workstation, VMware Player, VMware ESXi, and VirtualBox. Most of the time, there is no practical reason to install Android on a physical computer, but there may be some cases when you need to run Android on a virtual machine (VM), for example, when developing applications for Android and testing them. Mine used to do that a lot until I switched to installing it on my Harddrive.By Michael Bose Installing Android on VMware ESXi: A How-To GuideĪndroid is a very popular and prolific operating system on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. With slow speed ports and USB Drives, your system will stutter, slow down while running large apps and can sometimes even freeze up when transferring large/many files to it. if you port is a USB2.0 then read, write speed of the system will be of USB2.0 speeds. Some advice with running on a USB is that your system speed is also limited to the speed of the USB port. Currently for some reason my Windows option isn't showing so the only way to boot into Windows for me is issuing the "exit" command (on the flip-side its like a secret way to boot into Windows 10 with that setup). I had it installed on a USB before switching it to the SSD on my Surface Pro 3. I don't use Prime OS so I don't know about Persistence mode but I have Androidx86 v9.0r2 and run it in Vulkan enabled Mode Also have it on my Harddrive in dual boot with Windows 10. If there is a Windows option then you can choose to boot into windows but if there is no Windows option you can open the GRUB command-line type "exit" and system will boot into Windows. if you choose Prime OS and the USB isn't there then you'll get an error. After you finish installing and testing Prime OS on the USB and you restart it will give you options of what to boot into. You need 2 USB's to do so properly one that has the install and the one it will be installed on. Also you cannot install the GRUB on a USB it has to install on the PC to pull up the menu at boot or at least I have NEVER found anyone able to install the GRUB on USB.Īs for the system though that's another story you can install the Android system entirely on a USB. If you install the Grub you can still boot into windows 10 even if the USB isn't in.
